AND
. . . Congratulations to Our Friend
of Animals
from Nutley, New Jersey.

MARTHA Photobucket STEWART
to Receive Magazine Industry Lifetime Achievement Award.

It's the year of the woman! At least as far as the Magazine Publishers of America (MPA)is concerned. The MPA and the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) have just announced that they will be honoring MARTHA STEWART with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

MARTHA STEWART, founder of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, will be inducted into the ASME Magazine Editors' Hall of Fame.

MARTHA STEWART created an entirely new magazine category...The influence of Stewart's editorial vision can be seen at newsstands — and in homes — throughout the United States.

The announcement was made today by Nina Link, President and Chief Executive Officer, MPA, and Sid Holt, Chief Executive, ASME. The award will be presented at a special lunchtime event Thursday, January 29, 2009, at the Plaza in New York City.

AND ONWARD . . . . . Pet Magazine Voted, Then Slated
to be New MSLO Publication

  • Martha,

I would love to see a pet lovers publication from your company. I think it would be fantastic and we know that you are a pet lover! That being said, all of the other ideas are terrific as well and I think doing them all would please everyone!

AND SO . . . . . THE BIG IDEA BAKE-OFF WAS A COMPANY-WIDE COMPETITION THAT GAVE STAFF MEMBERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE THEIR OWN IDEAS FOR THE FUTURE OF MARTHA STEWART LIVING OMNIMEDIA. I WAS ABLE TO NARROW THE 40 ENTRIES DOWN TO 7 FINALISTS...BUT I JUST COULDN'T CHOOSE A WINNER...SO . . . .
"I'D LIKE YOU TO HELP ME DECIDE." Martha

AND NOW . . . . . Well, the votes have been counted and the results are in for the second annual Big-Idea BakeOff, the company-wide competition. After the seven finalists pitched their ideas, we invited viewers to vote for their favorite idea on THE MARTHA BLOG. The number of votes was astounding – 625,114 votes total! First place is shared by two winners – Alexis Givens with her allergy-friendly recipe publication idea and Shara Lasky with her idea for a publication focusing on pets and pet crafts. Their prize is to receive their choice of either one thousand dollars in cash or twelve hundred dollars worth of MSLO stock and the chance to help develop their project for the company. It will be most interesting to see where all this leads . . . .

"Congratulations to everyone!" Martha

I urge everyone to write to Martha's Blog, reveal your enthusiasm, and ask for the first issue date!!!!
